Well, this was an easy choice for me. One of my favourite wildlife photos sums this week’s challenge up nicely I think.
This was taken in north-east Iceland, at a puffin colony near Bakkagerdi. I LOVE Iceland (yeah, I say that a lot) and these gorgeous creatures are one of the many reasons. There were so many of them and I was lucky that it was mating season, so the males were glorious with their brightly coloured beaks. I battled the freezing wind straight off the Artic to stay out and get as many photos as I could, so of course I have a typical puffin shot, somewhat scuppered by my inability to hold a camera straight, and I also captured a puffin face-off (both of which I’m sharing here cause these guys are too damn cute). I really wanted to capture a puffin landing, as they’re bumbling adorably poor at it, but numb fingers beat my ability to focus and they’re all just that bit too blurry, and eventually I had to retreat to the car before I lost a digit to frostbite. Guess I’ll just have to go back one day, oh noes…
Such adorable and colorful creatures. I haven’t see one until today. Just fun and exciting. Beautiful post.
Thank you! Puffins are a delight, kinda funny looking but also adorable. I’m glad to share these creatures with you.

Oh the puffins…Under the conditions and near loss of body parts…Great work……More ,more, more…!!!
Thanks Helen! There will be more, but there are only so many hours in a day, annoyingly!
Love your photos of the puffins.
Thanks. It helps that they’re naturally so adorable!
They look so comical and so adorable at the same time. Great photos
Thanks!
I LOVE puffins. Have done ever since I watched the movie “Swan Princess” – great photos of them, they’re so CUTE.
I’ve never heard of that movie, I’ll have to put it on my ‘to watch’ list. It must be good if it has puffins!
Wonderful captures 😀
Thank you!
Puffins are so cute.
Aren’t they just!
Great post with some really beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, and my pleasure.
It’s fun sharing such gorgeous creatures 🙂
