Even the earth grows.
In Námaskarð, in the Myvatn region of north Iceland, hot earth bubbles out in the form of sulphurous mud and forms mini-mountains like this one.
Close by however, the acid mud burns deep holes into the ground.
Iceland is where the earth is built and destroyed beneath your very feet. This showcase of the cycle of growth and decay, the cycle of all things in our universe including the very earth itself, is one of the reasons I love Iceland so.

just WOW!
Aw, thanks!
I have heard Iceland is beautiful…you showed me it is. Great shots!
Thank you! Iceland really is stunning. So many of my photo challenges responses have come from there. I don’t set out to do that, but those are always the photos that jump out at me first.
How fascinating! Wow! Great pics!
Thanks! Iceland’s an amazing place.
Wow! Magnificent shots! Wish I can see them with my own eyes! 🙂
Thanks! I figure it’s the closest I’ll ever get to visiting another planet 🙂

Thank you. I thought I’d try something a bit different, I’m pleased that it seems to have worked.
Wow I love your take on the challenge! That’s thinking out of the box, and it also shows your character. Kudos.
Thank you! I do enjoy playing with the challenges.
Wonderful pictures. 🙂
Thank you.
Love this – dynamic photographs of this explosive process of growth!
It’s certainly explosive in Iceland! Although thankfully not too much while I was there 😉
Luckily! Nicole (thirdeyemom) turned around to find a volcano exploding behind her in Guatamala – a safe distance, but startling!
Wow, I bet it was!
