ISO ISO ISO. I’m going through a bunch of shots taken at nighttime in Chicago last November, all where I had the camera nice and stable on a solid surface, and I’m kicking myself for not thinking to change the ISO from auto to something much lower. All that unnecessary noise that could have been so easily avoided. I have most of the basic photographic technique in my head, I know what I SHOULD do, but when I’m out and about that knowledge isn’t translating into action. I need to practise using my tool more, turn that knowledge into habit. ISO ISO ISO: if it’s dark, if you’re stable, then check your ISO!
Still, it doesn’t look so bad when little! Here’s a view of south Chicago at dusk from the Tower Formerly Known as Sears (now the Willis whatchu-talkin-bout Tower).
