I’m a bit of a glum puppy today; had an interview for a job that I could have done miles better on, but I’m out of practise and stuffed up a few things. Now I keep thinking of things I should have said. Isn’t it always the way?
Anyway, here’s a photo in keeping with my mood. It was taken at Kew Gardens, London (if you’re in London and like nature, this place is a photographer’s DREAM) in orchid season. So I think it’s an orchid, but I’m not 100% sure. In fact, if anyone does know exactly what this flower is, that would cheer me up immensely!
For some reason, my brain keeps wanting to spell “glum” with an additional ‘p’. It’s done it twice so far, so I thought I’d leave it just the one.
Update: sliceoflondonlife to the rescue! It’s a rhododendren. But you probably already knew that.
I couldn’t agree with you more about Kew Gardens. And sorry about your interview. But you never know what the outcome will be. You could do a brilliant interview and still not get the job because all along they had someone else in mind.
I think the flower may be rhododendron. It is certainly beautiful, especially in black and white. You’ve really captured the delicacy of the petals.
Thanks. I’m normally much more pragmatic about interviews, but I think this one just annoyed me because I know I didn’t put my best foot forward. Ah well. I’ll know better for next time!
I think you’re right about the flower being a rhododendron, thank you. I thought I knew what those looked like, but it’s been a long time since I looked at the original photo. Putting the colours back made it more obvious. There’s a new tip for me next time I’m unsure of something I took long ago.
