The theme for the weekly photo challenge this week is not just a photo of something in a city, as I first thought when I read the title. Urban photography, it turns out, is a whole branch of photography I wasn’t aware of, and it’s one I could see myself getting into. It’s described as “a complement to street photography”, and as I’m too much of a wuss for street photography, I’m more than happy to provide some of the context instead.
Not the cheeriest photo I’ve ever taken. This is Wood St station, London. People being hit by trains, or worse, deliberately walking into the path of one, are sadly a common occurance in a big city. What drives a person to step in front of a moving train? Nothing good.
